If you think the only good Gator-viewing is in Florida, you’ll be surprised by one of the San Luis Valley’s most unique attributes.  The Colorado Gator Reptile Park has an interesting history that started with the Young Family moving to Alamosa in 1974 and purchasing an 80-acre farm where they raised Tilapia, a fish that thrived in the geo-thermal waters in the area.  In 1987, baby alligators were introduced to disposed of dead fish.  Word spread quickly about the Valley’s new reptilian residents and the family decided to open their doors to tours in 1990.

The Colorado Gator Farm has grown in size and popularity over the years making it a “Must See” if you’re visiting the San Luis Valley.  Not only can you see gators that have appeared in movies such as “Happy Gilmore”, you can see rare albino gators and even take a gator wrestling class, if you dare!  For more information, log on to the website via the link at the top of the page or call
